Half-term holiday round up
Quite a bit been happening since I last blogged. One lovely morning last week, we took the kids to the beach for a “photo shoot” (!!) for our planned christmas card. The kids tolerated me for so long, but then began to revolt! I promised it would not be much longer, but if I didn’t…

Beach Walk
This morning, before heading to our favourite resturaunt for lunch (1608 in Bushmills) we went for a walk on White Rocks Strand. We are now home from the cottage, and mostly unpacked. I have made it to Day 46 of Project 365. I am now caught up with my weekly summaries – here are my…
Hybrid digi-scrapping, Mothers Day and 2 up coming Give-aways
How are you all doing? It has been a busy week here, lots going on. First 2 digi-scrap items to share – in fact they are HYBRID – so they “really exist” and you can touch them. I usually print by digi-scrap layouts out at 4 x 4 inches, and display them in small books….
On the 18th of December ….. snowy business
This will be a short and somewhat bittersweet post tonight. Photos taken with my NEW Canon 500D – an early Christmas present. I NEVER remember snow like this In other news, unfortuantely my daughter, who will be 13 tomorrow, has had to postpone her birthday party due to the continued snow and atrocious road conditions. …
When is a pumpkin not a pumkin?
Answer When it is a turnip! Yes, growing up in Ireland, we did not have pumpkins filling every shop on the weeks preceding Halloween. Halloween was a much less commercial event, and in mainland UK Halloween was overshadowed by Guy Fawkes Night on 5 November. As a child we had to make do with turnips…

Day 1 – my advent for Christmas
My plan is to post a photo every day up to Christmas, with a christmas theme. I put up our first christmas tree last night in the living room, so here it is. Have 2 sick kids in the house, but still managed to get more decorations and the second tree up. Just put my…
Day 20 -Christmas Crackers
It dawned on me yesterday, while competing for the christmas goodies in Marks & Spencers and remembering I already had some crackers, that I have not seen ANY crackers mentioned on blogs, in digi-kits, or even in digital Lay-outs. I assumed therefore that these are a purely British tradition, but a Wikipedia Search revealed that…
What I collect
I am rather fond of collecting (as my long-suffering husband will testify to) – books – I seem to like collecting books, although I rarely read them again, as I remember too clearly what happens in them, so don’t enjoy reading them again! I am the same with watching films again – I don’t see…
Meet Jonathan and his big sister
So this is my friends’ new baby Jonathan meeting his big sister for the first time a few hours after arriving in this world. The lovely photo was taken by the proud father. I showed considerable and remarkable restraint by limiting myself to just a few elements and NO paper – a first for me!…

Valentines, Compassion, a Toddler haircut and more!
Now, that is surely unique combination for a Blog post title. Do you think anyone else has used it? Maybe I should do a Google Search just in case! It is shortly after 6am, and the house is quiet. I wish to reassure you this is not my normal getting up time, but I was…
A fairytale castle in France
Today we headed for a chateau, which made a change from a cathedral! Or else there would have been a risk that this blog and our holiday would need to be remamed “a Tour or French Cathedrals while House Swapping”! It was in the beautiful village of Pierrefonds, and not surprisingly has been used as a…
I Heart Faces – Constructive Feedback Friday
I am taking part in I Heart Faces Constructive Feedback Friday. Here is an original photo, in all it’s unedited glory. It is my daughter on the beach one evening last week, here in Northern Ireland, as the light was fading. I have a Canon 400D (Rebel xti) and I use PSE 7. Here are…
Home Exchange – the final chapter (for this year!)
We are home, bags unpacked (mostly), and recovering from the jet-lag by spending the afternoon on the beach. Temperature has dropped significantly but we enjoyed the warm sunshine, but missed the warmer waters of New Emgland. We packed quite a lot into our final days in Concord, MA. It is a beautiful small New England…
My Layout for Friday and some shopping
Well – this should have been my LO for Thursday but something happened with the ‘saving’ of it – and it disappeared into the abyss. So here it is again (well sort of the same). I used mostly the various amazing kits created in memory of Miles. Check out this link https://christinareneedesigns.blogspot.com/ to find out…
Boston Day 2 – photography, walking and splashing
I had booked a PhotoWalk Tour of the Back Bay area of Boston for this morning. As traffic would be lighter, and the T was still operating the shuttle bus as part of our journey, we opted to attempt to drive into the city centre. Thanks to our TWO SatNav’s (the one in the hire…

Review of Bananagram – fun family game
- 1. It was promoted as a game for all ages (from 7 up)
- 2. It was Olympic 2012 special addition and I was in London and promised to bring home a souvenir
- 3. It looked fun while being educational too
- 4. Easily transported for family holidays
We have already played it with friends and family …. and it has been very popular.
The rules are easy, and it can be fun working in team with some of the younger players
The frequent request on completing a game is “just one more game please”
At Britmums I did see a number of other games from makers of Bananagrams and I would be certainly keen to try some more. This game was purchased by me, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own – promise!
What is your favourite family game?

Lessons Learned & what St Patrick was eating this year!
1. One of my kids DID learn about St Patrick in school this year – this was created by my 5 year old. 2. A friend (new to facebook, and trying to convince her she really does want to blog!) let me know about some special packaging for St Patrick’s Day in our local supermarket….
The colourful brush and the photo canvas
For my picture today, on a cold and damp Monday, I have chosen my bright stripey brush and dustpan. I love it’s bright cheery colours, but I have to confess it is not the best at sweeping the floor and collecting the dust! However, it is so cheery and fun that I am reluctant to…
GIVEAWAY – win £50 of kitchen equipment
I was delighted when I was given the chance to host a giveaway from Cookware Essentials (now called Wayfair) to one of my UK readers as well as getting to chose an item for myself. I had such fun browsing their on-line store looking for an item for our new kitchen. Should I chose something…
Another Belfast Photowalk – Victoria Square and St Georges Market
For the 2nd friday I took myself and my camera off to Belfast. It was a very different morning, no sparkling reflections – but cold grey fog. This was the view of the shipyard and Titanic Quarter which I visited last week. This is the view from the top of the Victoria Square shopping centre….

Looks like a hoot! I can’t remember the last time we played a game, so sad! We hope to go camping in the fall and then we will do that – my Mr. bought a Stratego game at a yard sale, he has fond childhood memories of it so guess who will be learning? Have you ever heard of it?
Thanks for sharing!
