I love creating new designs and supplying independent retailers and galleries with my unique pieces. I enjoy teaching jewellery making at parties (kids and adults) but there is a limit to how much can be taught during a party.
Maggie from Memento offered me the chance to teach a longer class in her shop on a Saturday morning over the summer.
The class was fully booked, and we started last Saturday morning with coffee and cookies while I introduced the items they would have a chance to create that morning. In all I demonstrated 4 different pieces – 2 styles necklaces and 2 styles bracelets which incorporated a number of jewellery making techniques.
I brought along my daughter as an able helper, and LOTS of beads and findings – this meant everyone was able to create unique pieces reflecting their own style and taste.
We packed a lot in to the 2 and a half hours, but definitely could have used more time – however everyone was able to stay until their creations were complete.
Here is some of the feedback from those who came along to the workshop
“Excellent workshop, good time, would come again”
“Enjoyable morning and great result – proud of my achievement”
“Unbelievable choice and variety of beads”
“Super value for money”
“Would absolutely recommend to a friend – can’t wait to flaunt my creations and spread the word”
“You are both so patient – thank you”
“Relaxed atmosphere and fantastic tutors!”
“Thoroughly enjoyed it”
Here are a few of the workshop participants, along with Maggie and my daughter, after the workshop
The Memento gift shop in Portrush is also worth a visit – full of beautiful gifts and cards (and www.janmarydesigns.com jewellery of course!) and this is the view from across the street – can’t beat it!
With such positive praise and demand, we will certainly be offering more www.janmarydesigs.com handcrafted jewellery workshops.
