Fireman Sam – and we are back home

As I can never think of imaginative titles for my blog posts, I usually use the title of one of my latest digital scrap layout. So here is my Fireman Sam layout, using one of my favourite kit In Memory of Miles – a wonderful collaboration kit by the digi-scrapping community to remember a little boy called Miles. Sam was so excited to get to sit in a fire engine.

So we are home from the cottage after 5 lovely weeks, and experiencing a period of adjustment for all! It has obviously been a long time, as I struggled to open the correct cupboards in the kitchen while making lunch today.

Here is a quick round up of the end of our time at the cottage – I went to my first scrapbook crop at crafters & co. I really enjoyed it, and although did not create any scrapbook pages, I got some great advice on how to assemble my ABC kids book when I eventually finish it. I also got to use some of those products I have seen in magazines such as Sissix etc. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and although no-one there had ever heard of digital scrapbooking, no-one was too horrified by the concept. By the end of the evening I had a number of requests for digi-scrapping sites and also for my blog. So if your were there – Hi. It is just a pity I don’t live closer, but I do plan to go again soon. I never thought I would miss glitter and glue, but it was fun to ‘play’ again. Although I did find it difficult seeing precious photos being physically cropped etc, and kept thinking how I would enhance/adjust/resize etc with Photoshop. I do intend to return to a bit of paper scrapping, but never quite in the convential way. I admit it – I am a digi-addict!

Our lovely neighbour at the cottage baby-sat for us, so dh (husband for those who may not know – I have been asked recently to explain) and I had a lovely evening out. We just went for coffee/hot chocolate and apple pancakes over a Portstewart. There was a beautiful sunset, and some great waves at a ‘blow-hole’ by the harbour wall. When a large wave came, water spouted up through the hole like an erupting volcano.

All these photos are straight from the camera, and probably would benefit from some editing, but here they are. There is something unique about these photos – can you guess what it is? Answer below the photos.
Answer – for once, none of the above photos contain any of my children!
Great to be back to my broadband connection, but my kitchen table not quite so atmospheric as the old coaching inn where I posted whilst on hols.
I will post again soon, as I will have more layouts to share, but here is one more layout for this evening – Mary, using Dusty Bears gorgeous kit called Dainty.
This photo is of my maternal grandmother as a teenager (although that was before the term ‘teenager’ was used I suppose). I have few memories of her, as she died when I was 7, but I remember she smelled of Lily of the Valley soap, her skin was so soft, and toasted coconut macaroons were her favourite sweets. Yes – I know I should have put that in the journalling, but maybe another time – it’s late.
Thats all folks. I’ll be back soon.
Love your comments (is that hint too subtle?)
Take care
