A Family Wedding on St Patricks Day

in blogging, digital scrapbooking, family life on 03/22/07

I have just finished the layout I wanted to create of the beautiful wedding of my cousin on St Patricks Day. We have a large family – lots of cousins, and this wedding was the last one of our generation (how old that makes me feel!). As their are so many of us, the bride decided that as well as all the uncles and aunts, just to invite the youngest cousin of each family branch, with their spouse and children. As the youngest member of her family she felt us ‘young ones’ were often left behind and not always included in invites – so now was our turn!

It was lovely having so many children at the wedding – 23 in total, including 2 toddlers. My daughters were very excited at being proper wedding guests, and I had forgotten so many of the wedding traditions that prompted numerous questions :

Why is it ok for the bride to be late?

Why has she got a sheet on her head?

Why has she taken off the sheet?

Why does the minister ask that?………

My son fortunately slept during the service, but was then fully charged up for the reception. He seemed to only stop to eat, and we had a few scary moments with the railings on the elaborate stair case.

So here is the layout of the wedding –

It took a bit of adjusting, to get the flowers and bridesmaids dresses the correct shades of purple. I used only a few elements, as I decided to use the flowers as the background.

Credits – Tag by S Grimwood, Fonts – French Script and Filofax Girls, Frame stitching – Shabby Princess from her Vintage Flowers kit, and zigzag stitching by Janelle Paige from her Hearts & Laughter.

Comments as always very welcome (hint hint).

Have a good day and take care.

    Beautiful Janmary!
I love the colours too. I think the sheer paper over the flower looks great on the angle and the line of smaller photos. Love the swirly frame around the happy couple and the flowers over the photo with the tag. THis is great. I’m sure they will love it 🙂
