Earth Day

Did you realise today was Earth Day?

As part of Earth Day a mosaic of photos taken around the world today, 22 April 2009 is being created. You can upload your photo HERE.

This is the photo I took in my back garden a few minutes ago to upload to the project.

My second photo for today is for the Photo Challenge in the Weeds and Wildflowers forum. The prompt was to photograph a row of something.

Line em up! Show me lots of the same things, books, kids, flowers, shoes *any*thing in quantity. Line em up and snap away!!

As I bought some new glasses, and was arranging them in the cupboard, I thought they would be a suitable subject.

Finally (!) there is a You Capture photo challenge at I Should Be FoldingLaundry, and the subject this week is Letters.

Here are my letters – an old tin box of letters saved over the years by my grandparents. There are letters of condolence, postcards, letters from overseas, and even letters saying “I will be home this afternoon on the 3 o’clock train” (obviously from the days of more than one postal delivery per day!).

Thanks for looking at my photos today. Tomorrow I will share my latest 3 digital scrapbooking to be published in a REAL magazine!

  1. Great photos! The flower has nice detail. The letters photo is very nostalgic.

Of course I knew it was Earth day, I even designed a typographic poster image this year and I am giving it away for free (the image not a poster) and posted it on my blog.

  4. PERFECT for Earth day – so simple and fresh. I love lined up things too – thus my trips to the thrift store! They always have little collections of things.

I’ve kept all my Grandmother’s letters to me too. When she passed, my brother and wife came down, I read through all of them with them and it brought great comfort. Have you ever sat with your children and read yours? It leads to a lot of questions. (which of course we could have our Grandparents answer now)

Thanks for another thought provoking post, my friend.

  5. Love your letters picture. As I was trying to think of something to capture this week I don’t know how many times I wished I had some old grandparents’ letters that I could shoot. Great job!
